Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) – Licensed to Administer Local Anesthesia

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, personable, and clinically skilled Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our growing dental team. The ideal candidate is a team player, bilingual, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing exceptional patient care.

The ideal hygienist should be confident in providing comprehensive preventive hygiene care while being able to identify, document, and communicate oral health conditions and potential concerns to the dentist. We are looking for someone who understands that a great hygienist plays an important role in both patient education and early detection of dental disease.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive preventive dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, periodontal charting, radiographs as permitted, fluoride treatments, and other hygiene procedures within the scope of licensure.
• Administer local anesthesia in accordance with Florida licensure and applicable regulations.
• Perform thorough intraoral and extraoral assessments and recognize signs of soft tissue abnormalities, periodontal disease, inflammation, lesions, and other oral health concerns.
• Identify and recognize potential hard-tissue problems, including caries, fractures, defective restorations, wear, and other abnormalities, and communicate findings appropriately to the dentist.
• Review and update medical and dental histories and accurately document clinical findings.
• Take and interpret radiographs within the scope of practice and identify areas requiring further evaluation by the dentist.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, periodontal health, home care, and preventive treatment.
• Clearly communicate clinical findings to the dentist and work collaboratively to develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
• Build strong relationships with patients and create a comfortable, welcoming, and professional experience.
• Work closely with the dentist, dental assistants, and front office team to ensure excellent patient flow and continuity of care.
• Support periodontal and recall programs by helping patients understand the importance of maintaining regular preventive visits.
• Recognize opportunities for additional treatment and appropriately communicate them to the doctor without compromising patient trust.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and follow all OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and practice protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully prepared operatory.
• Participate actively as a team player, assisting the practice in maintaining an efficient and positive working environment.

Qualifications

• Current and active Florida Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing.
• Licensed/certified to administer local anesthesia in Florida.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and periodontal evaluation skills.
• Ability to recognize and appropriately communicate soft-tissue and hard-tissue abnormalities.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
• Professional, warm, and personable chairside manner.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to clinical excellence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the entire dental team.
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused dental practice.
